Preparing for your Session

Some tips to prepare for our consult:

Baby: If possible, it’s helpful to have baby ready to feed shortly after the start of our session – but please don’t hold them off if they need to eat. By all means, offer a snack feeding if you are waiting for me to arrive. Having baby in a clean diaper ready to be weighed prior to feeding is helpful, too, but not essential.

Pump & pump parts ready: If a pump fitting is included as part of the session you booked, please have your pump parts cleaned & sterilized, and your pump ready to go. Totally fine if you haven’t used it yet/have no idea what to do with it! Just have everything handy. If you are bottle feeding

Bottles & milk handy (if bottle feeding): If you are currently bottle feeding and/or if your appointment is for bottle refusal, please have any bottles you are using/have tried handy along with some expressed milk or formula.

Shields, nipple creams, etc: Please bring any other tools, products, etc., that you are currently using or would like to ask questions about.

If Your Session is In-Home

Additional tips for folks preparing for an in-home consult:

Arrival Window: Due to the unpredictable nature of driving in Michigan (traffic, construction, weather, etc.), please graciously consider your appointment time the start of my arrival window. For example, if you have an 11:00am appointment, please expect me between 11:00-11:15. I will text you when I am en route to your home with an ETA. Rest assured that if we start a few minutes late, I will ensure you receive the full allotted time for your appointment.

Don’t tidy up: It should not need to be said, but: please do not feel the need to give up precious rest time to tidy up in advance of my visit, and do not feel the need to apologize for mess. No one understands the importance of prioritizing your baby and your SELF more than I do. I only need one space cleared, which is room for my scale on the end of a kitchen counter or sturdy table.

Pets: I love animals, and do not mind a cat or dog who warmly welcomes me to the home with a greeting, then generally hangs out in the background or disappears. However, if your pet is overly visitor-happy and will prevent me from interacting closely with you, or if they are not friendly with visitors, please take care to secure them elsewhere before my arrival.

Siblings: Older children are absolutely welcome to be present/involved in the consult; however, this is YOUR time, and if it would be more helpful for you to be able to focus fully on our conversation, you may wish to arrange childcare for our appointment time.

What to Expect After

Written care plan: We will likely cover a great deal in our time together. Don’t feel like you have to remember everything! You will get a written summary following our visit, and have portal access to ask any follow-up questions afterwards.

Follow-Up Support: Two weeks of follow-up messaging support are included in most consultations. You may reach out at any time with questions or concerns. The portal is HIPAA secure, and therefore may be used to send photos, videos, or questions of a sensitive nature if needed.

Additional Visits: Depending on the nature of your first consult and your goals, additional visits may or may not be recommended. If you need to book a follow-up appointment, you can do so here:
