Even though I thought I had prepared myself well for breastfeeding, in the early days after my baby was born, I had so many questions. I wasn’t sure how to help her latch more deeply, what amount of nipple pain was normal (I now know: virtually none), or how to manage engorgement. I was among the first in my circle of friends and in my extended family to have a baby, and
While some folks have an friend or family member experienced with successful nursing that they can lean on for support, plenty of folks don’t, or they may not be comfortable asking super-personal or vulnerable questions of a loved one. In the absence of the village full of nursing babies and experienced parents of all ages and stages, it can be hard to know what’s normal, and you deserve answers to your questions!
Integrative Lactation Care offers a 1-week subscription of text support for families who would like to be able to text a lactation consultant.
This service is ideal for:
- first-time expecting parents who want to get nursing off to a good start
- second+ time expecting parents who were unhappy with a prior early lactation experience, and want some extra TLC this time around
- new parents who have questions but aren’t ready to book a full consult yet
We highly recommend booking this service while pregnant (pairs beautifully with a prenatal consult, but not required!) so that you can activate your support shortly after your baby arrives without missing a beat!

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What kinds of things do you help with?
A: Latch tips, breast & nipple care, pain or discomfort, newborn behavior, feeding volumes, diapers, sleep, “is this normal??”.
Q: What if I’m not sure if I’m going to breastfeed yet?
A: ILC believes all families deserve caring feeding support. A prenatal consult may be helpful to explore your options beforehand, but regardless, text support is still for you!
Q: Can I purchase for an expecting friend?
A: YES! We love it when friends buy support for friends. It makes for a wonderful registry gift.
Q: Should I invest in this if I’m planning to see you/another LC for a home visit?
A: Some families find that having text support during their hospital stay and as they’re transitioning back home is a helpful bridge to their first in-home visit.
Q: Where can I reach out with more questions?
A: Please email us at info@integrativelactation.com!
